The brackets are made out of 1 inch square tubing. To make a set for yourself you need 3ft or so of square tubing and 4 new bolts and nuts. I cut it out and drilled the holes. I used a plasma cutter to cut it out but anything would work even a hacksaw.



Those brackets are not painted in the picture but it shows exactly how I cut them. I just put them beside the factory bolts and marked where to make my cuts and cut them out. I test fit them to make sure it all worked before painting them and bolting them down. Here is the finished result



The seat is much more comfortable now. I will repaint the brackets once I get some tan spray paint but for now it will do just fine.

Nice work and more leg room. You might want to tell everyone why you didn't just drill new holes toward the rear.

I think I may take a shot at that mod, my tall, full figured wife will like it, although my sawed-off self could care less, LOL.

I may try to use unistrut, I have a bunch of that lying around. It's pretty strong.

I figure the fewer holes in the floor the better. Plus there is some frame thing running under it in about the area I wanted the seat to mount.

Really making those brackets took all of 15 minutes. It took longer to paint them and wait for them to dry. I could have made them a few inches longer and moved the seat back even more but that seemed about right to me. I mostly just wanted it able to go back as far as the drivers seat and be in line. Both of them are as far back as they go in that picture so it seems pretty good to me. I am 6'4 so the stock location sucked with me sitting there, I usually just got in the middle row when I wasn't driving.

And I just ordered new captains chairs for the front with heat and massage. I should be set now once my wallet recovers

This is a mod I've considered as my wife used to complain about the cramped quarters. My question though is about the shoulder belt. Is it still far enough behind to wrap around the passenger? If not, do you have a mod for it?

It doesn't go back any farther than the drivers seat so I don't see any problems with the seatbelt position. If you go nuts making the brackets and move the seat back like 8-10 inches you might have problems with it

I noticed the other day, when I had moved the seats far forward to clean (what a strange word) behind them, that there's an additional 1/2" of metal on the support brackets that you can drill holes in to move the seat back. I know, it's a piddly 1/2", but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. (This is on top of the seat brackets, so you don't have to fight with those four base nuts.)

A possible alternative would be to take angle iron and extend them to the rear as far as you want. In the middle, you could countersink holes to match up with the rearmost hole in the seat base to help support the new brackets. Because the brackets slope to the rear, this would end up giving you both leg room AND headroom.
