Need help quick with seat belt!!!

Post by Detectorist »

I depend on my van for work. I'm a delivery driver. Tonight, the plastic around the driver's side seat belt latch disintegrated and the mechanism is jammed.

How can I replace the latch part with the 12" long stub which seems to be attached to the bottom of the seat. It has what looks like some type of bolt but the bolt head is completely round...

I may try to use the passenger side one if I can figure out how to get it undone.

Thanks!!!

Question about factory seat bolts...

Post by Detectorist »

Looks like I have to take out the front seats in order to unbolt the receiver side seat belts.

Will the seat bolts fall out after I remove the nuts? Do I need to get under the van to hold the bolts while I remove the nuts?

If I do, then I will have to get a second pair of hands.

From my experience the bolts are permanent, nothing to hold underneath, and will stay put when you remove the seat.

On the 98, if you slide the seat all the way forward you can access the back 2 nuts that holds the seat in. You then need to remove the front 2 nuts as well. You will need to remove the seat to get the seat belt "stub" out. It sits under the seat and the seat is bolted down on top. The nuts were 19mm I think.

Nope, 18mm. I remember because I had to buy one when my power seat broke.
