Getting ready to go out of town in the morning but wanted to post a bad boy car from south Alabama that was at a car show just down the road today in Atmore.
One bad Willys. This should get your juices flowing Darren.
Will post the rest of pics when I return.
Not sure how to resize these cell phone pics but will try later.

Larry(yeah I am still a dial-up user, ugggg)but well worth the wait to see the cool vids.Larry-you remember "Ohio George Mongomary"(sp)??.He was Stone.Woods,&Cooks competition. Not sure if Jimmy Oddy with his AA/G Anglia was a factor.I do know he won a national in Indy with it one yr with it.Driving those short wheel base straight axle cars where a handle full at the top end.I drove a E Gas Austin for a friend and remember well how squirrely they where.

You guys who remember these days and the fun we all had at the strip are welcome for the travel back in time. For you younger folks,,sorry you missed the tire smoke of all the hot cars built in garages around the country,,many with no sponsers,,just long nights, little money and borrowing all the parts and help you could find.
Here's local Evergreen old time racer, Aubrey Padget with his Chevy "Big Iron" C/G. If you'll read the article you'll find he's still running down that 1/4 mile at 72 years of age. This is Big Iron III, the first was bought by Ken Stabler, football great, #2 burned in a barn fire a couple of years ago. He now races Big Iron III.

As a kid,,it was a thrill to see this guy run the strips around south Alabama back in the day.

Cool story, Larry. When I was a kid growing up in the very small town of Largo, FL. right across the Gandy bridge from Tampa our drag racing hero was Big Daddy Don Garlits. No further explanation needed.
