Looks like the threat from Tsunami to Hawaii due to the earthquake in Chile is over, back in the 60's parts of Hawaii were devastated from a Tsunami that originated from an monster earthquake in Chile so it looks like they dodged a bullet this time.

We have one member at ASV (hebert12 ) who lives in Punta Arenas area of Chile, from what I have read that area was not badly affected, but I have sent an email to Hebert to see how his family has made out, hopefully we will hear something back soon.

The tsunami warning system was activated out on the west coast of the Island but nothing happened. Oddly enough, lots of people with their children went down to the local beaches to watch the tsunami come in.
:dunce:

We have idiots do that when hurricanes are rolling in. Getting knocked down by a wave and falling off a 17 foot seawall into storm surge is not my idea of a bright thing to do. People highly underestimate the power of moving water.

Heard back from Hebert12, they live quite a distance away from where the earthquake hit so he and his family are fine, tho he did say that the death-toll is nearing 1000 for the people in the area hit hardest.
