Re: Your Favorite Ride Of All Time.
Since I have 6 of them right now, I guess my current favorite is the Astro/Safari van.
I really can't name a Favorite Ride Of All Time. Too many choices.
I have always loved the 1966 Chevelle and 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. I have never driven or even rode in either one.
I love my 1985 Monte Carlo SS.
I like my 1981 Monte Carlo beater.
I like anything with a clutch.
I have owned several 92-94 Crown Vic P71 Police Interceptors. They are awesome cars, close to my favorite. Tough, and fast.
I've loved 4x4 vans since I was a really little kid. Now I have the Awd Astro and Safaris, not the same, but good anyway. A quigley 4x4 GMC Savana with a dana 60 and a 6.0 would be awesome, but my 1989 Safari will be cool when I get it done.
I owned a few older Caddys, 2 1970s and a 1976, a 71 and 72 Olds 98, those were cool old cars.
I've owned several Chevy and Ford trucks and vans, they were ok. I had a 1996 F350 4x4 Powerstroke diesel, bought new, stolen in 2001 with 300K on it, I drove that thing all over the country for 5 years, and still miss it today.
I couldn't tell you how many vehicles I've owned over the years, I've got 11 now plus a motorcycle and 2 trailers, and at one time I loved each one the most. I really need to downsize, lol.

Re: Your Favorite Ride Of All Time.
Well because of my choice I guess I would be the odd guy out.A high school buddy of mine and I joined money in a sort of partnership and bought a new a 1994 Ford Galaxy coupe dual quad medium raiser 427 side oilier with a four speed and with a 4.11 rear end.His father greased the wheel some being he was the use car manager at a Ford dealership for us being able to get on at a good price. His dad wouldn't allow us to get one with a posti trying to slow us down some. That car had killer torque. Was Fast for sure in that day and age.Yeah I do have some good memories from that time.

Re: Your Favorite Ride Of All Time.
My "most" favorite car is a 1965, 427 A/C Cobra. In my opinion the is no other.
My second choice, and my first car, is a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger.
But I will never forget the day when my Dad pulled up in front of my school and picked me up in a brand new 1970, banana yellow XKE v12 convertable. I can still hear the sound that thing made.
That was the coolest car to get driven around in when I was a kid.

Re: Your Favorite Ride Of All Time.
Waaaay too many cars to have a favorite. But here are some interesting ones. My first, of course, a 49 Merc coupe. 66 Chevelle with a 438 cu. in. big block. 48 Ford woodie. 59 Chevy pickup with a 455 Olds and THM 400. 71 Vega with a steel sleeved four banger. That thing ran excellent. It had a full custom interior as well as a lacquer paint job. 76 Olds Starfire with a 310 cu.in. sbc. 1971 Triumph Bonneville. I think If I could have anyone of them back it would be my Triumph. I've loved Triumph motorcycles since I was about 12.

Re: Your Favorite Ride Of All Time.
my favorite was my sister's high school graduation present. I've not owned too many rides, my '89 astro is only my 6th...I get a lot of mileage out of them. anyway, I think it was 1974, she got a chevy monza 2+2 brand new off the show room floor, stock with a 305 stuffed in it. If you think our vans are bad to work on, think again. I did a tune up for her...had to unbolt the engine mounts and jack the engine up as far as it would go to get to the back two plugs. it's my favorite because I drove it west on I-10 at 70, hit the gas and broke rear tires loose, smoke no less. Man that was a hot car, which being a girl of course, she totally trashed. I've never seen on again since those days. If you are not familiar with them, google it. (think v8 in a corvair or a vega)
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). B&M stacked plate trans cooler. Bilstein shocks. Belltech sway bars front and back. New head unit, speakers and subwoofer. Needs paint and a new headliner.

Re: Your Favorite Ride Of All Time.
My favorite ride of all time that I would love to have would be a 1948 Tucker. But that ain't happening!
My favorite ride that I've personally owned was Probably my 1981 Ford F150 Ranger Stepside Pick up I used to drive in high school when I couldn't afford to drive my 8 MPG 1976 Lincoln Continental. It had and AOD, a 9 inch rear and a Mustang 302 my dad and I dropped in it one summer. That thing was just FUN. It had true dual exhaust with glass packs. And I took the wood out of the floor in the bed so it was really fun to light 'em up at a stop light and watch the Smoke come out from inside the bed. It ALWAYS started and we never had any real issues with it until one night I was playing (back when I used to drink) and I floated a valve into the piston. ](*,)

Yes it was one hot ride. I paid $400 for it.Rebel wrote:Boy,,there's one from the past,,one hot ride.My second choice, and my first car, is a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger.
The wireing loom had completely burnt up along with a few other things. The guy just could not figure out how to fix it and after having walked pass the thing for months on my way to school, I stopped in to talk to the guy one day.
He said if I could get it running I could have it for $400. I did get it going and I drove it home.
That thing could burn rubber in all 4 gears with no effort. It was a blast to drive.
I ended up almost killing myself in it one day. I broke it in two right behind the doors and it was towed away in two pieces. I still have the shift nob.
I would love to find another one one day.
