Oh man.........with me things happen in three's and this is only the second thing------just can't wait for the third one. #-o

My windows XP computer the other day crash hard.Won't even turn on to the sign on page.Sooooo, this is my old windows 95 I am using right now and there won't be any pictures coming from me because of that.

Before it got to a point it is now,it said something about protecting the computer because of some sort of virus related to videos.

So I am going to take the windows XP to the place I have bought all my reconditioned computers to see if it can be saved.$$$$$$$

Might have them look into a update while they have it.Sure hope I don't lose my files that I have worked so hard to create.

Find yourself a local computer nerd (I mean this earnestly as I would consider myself on of these) and by that I mean a person who can do a nice clean rebuild for you and enjoys doing it. I usually charge a 26 of Gibson's Silver Label - so cheap! And that is only if I can get er going again. I bet some neighbor hood teenager - or a friends son/daughter could get it up and running for cheaper than a computer shop. Join us on the dark side and download and try Linux - you could burn a live Linux CD such as Ubuntu and boot from the CD just to give it a try.

Sorry your not close, as I'd tune it up for ya.

sounds very similar to the internet security 2010 trojan. The more of it I cleared out, the more malicious it became - to the point where it highjacked the login. So, I nuked it with Ubuntu 8.04 - works quite well on my laptop.

what i've done before with other peoples computers is just pull the hard drive out put it in mine and run my normal anti-virus and spyware programs normally does a good job. i'm running a slackware machine and am happy so far with it mind you it's mainly a server but i have done other things on it while my main machine was doing other things

My god it has been a long time since I have run Slackware seriously on anything. Pretty much switched to CentOS, use it at work a ton. Either shove the drive in something else that has a good AV program or re-install it. Does safe mode even work?
