My mother, Beverly Elaine Reinert Runkle, crossed over the bar around midnight this morning. Apparently, she misjudged the amount of oxygen she needed to get to the bathroom and back and, with all the fluid on her lungs, didn't make it. EMTs were dispatched , but to no avail. She would have been 77 on July 16.

She is survived by one brother, William Michael Reinert, of Beloit, WI, his wife, and the widow of her oldest brother, as well as her husband, Homer Tell, and children Michael James, Timothy John, Robert Leslie and Theresa Elaine, as well as two grandsons.

Cremation is planned.

The viewing (family only) was yesterday. We all had our chance to say our final good-byes. I arrived 15 minutes early to have my time alone with Mom. Still difficult to come to grips with the fact that she is gone. After all of us kids had our moments, we left Dad alone with her for his good-bye. He's still shaken. We meet with the preacher today and the final memorial service is tomorrow. Dad's still undecided about what to do with the cremains -- whether to hold on to them until his demise and subsequent internment at our local Veteran's cemetery with him or scatter them to the wind at our favourite spot. But with the sorrow and grief comes resentment and anger from the way that I'm being treated - as if I weren't even related to this family.
