Dual Sport day trip with the local forum

Post by T.Low »

The Bellingham Dual Sport Riders are a great group of local guys. There is always someone who knows the mountain roads and trails and good spots. This was taken last weekend at a point about an hour from my house.

If you're interested, here's a couple pics:

DualSport is the most fun on two wheels..

our local club is so big that I tend to stay away from their "events" though. I prefer small groups of riders with similar skill levels when possible.

sometimes I ride alone but after last week I think I'll stick to well know/traveled areas from now on.

I was exploring a mountain range trail that seemed fine untill I was too far in to turn arround (not enough fuel) then it got almost nasty. I'll never forget it and Im glad it wasnt another lesson learned the hard way.

wish everyone could experience all the things we do though. at least they dont know what they are missing I guess.

Thanks, Kevin. I've been lurking that site for a while. I'd really like to hook up with them, looks like they do some great rides.

Two weekends ago.

You can't see it in the pics, but its the first time I could see the tall buildings of downtown Vancouver. About 3500 elevation.

We stage at Brad's house right at the base of the mountain, about 30 min from my house. I'm the dork with the helmet still on (in the black with red armor).

Last weekend; Goal was to link old forest service roads and trails to make it over the mountain to another town. It was overcast, and we rode thru the clouds and finally above them at 5000' elevation.

Dan took most of these. he calls this one T.Low Wheelies in the Mist
Image

Due to the moisture of being in a cloud, my goggles were actually streaming drops of water with no rain present.

Dan approaches a rock slide with T.Low behind him

T.Low (me) snakes thru the rock slide

We finally began to emerge from the cloud cover.

Brad on a loose shelf trail.

Chris, then Brad, with T.Low riding sweep.

Brad taking possibly his most scenic break ever, about 4800' elevation.

Back at the trailhead at the end of the forest service road, we look back on a great little trail ride though the clouds. We're at about 3200' elevation looking at Mt Baker which is 10500'

Thanks for riding along. Hope you enjoyed it.

Feel free to post that if you like, that's a terrific shot that helps give everyone the perspective of what we're riding around. I think as you get further north, even still in the US, the views of Baker get more majestic.

The dual sport is indeed a great way to explore the mountains.

Thanks for sharing the pics! The scenery is epic. If you listen closely, you can hear the sighs from us flatlanders.
