There is an amazing sub-forum on the expeditionportal.com forum that may be of interest.
Here's an example. A long read, but get into it...trust me 8-)
Check the rest out too. Great stuff.

I love reading these kinds of play by play stories. I'll finish it another time.

Thanks for the link, Loops.

When Christian ("2aroundtheworld") replies and says he's been waiting a long time to see this guy do a trip report about it, you know it's gong to be good. I'll bookmark it and get to it one rainy evenning this winter when the Red Wings aren't playing.

If you are done with that one, one of my favs is on advrider. Written from the perspective of one of the 5 enduros that went along with about 20 4x4s. They planned a route across Borneo following the equator as closely as possible, but found many of the bridges to be washed out so it turned into quite the winch fest. There is also a link from Expo to this Borneo TR on adv. A very fun read.

What an amazing story! I can't believe I just sat in front of my computer for three hours reading all 42 pages! And that's not even the end of it!

I read the thread on the Borneo Expedition as well, another phenomenal tale!

I started to read this but gave up after a couple of pages. While I appreciate how cool it would be to explore new continents, I can't get past the shitty people wanting bribes. Makes one appreciate the good 'ol US of A (and Canada and most of Europe) a lot more.

Especially if you are not going to pay them. :muhaha:

Just read the Congo story. In an over all view it doesn't sound like it was a whole lot of fun. When I think of an adventure I want to look back and have a desire to do it again. It was a good story, though.

That was a pretty good read.. but I have to agree, there didn't appear to be too much room for fun in that trip.
He might have saved himself the heat stroke if he had sprung 50 bucks for a come along.
