My 2000 Safari has the nicer am/fm/cassette stereo w/ the seperate cd player mounted under. Anyone have any ideas what to do with the cd player space if I use an aftermarket stereo? I want to play mp3s on a disc (not ipod). Is there a mod or upgrade to change my cd player to an mp3 player? Just looking for some tech peeps that know things I don't. Thanks!

I installed an MP3 deck, and I put my scanguage in the extra space. I think there are aftermarket mounting kits, and some have a pocket where you can cram stuff.

if you go to your local gm dealership and ask the guy that runs the parts department to pull up the reference of your center dash, Gm offers a little cubby hole that was made for the vans that didnt have both cd and cassette. i only payed 20 bucks for mine but i also work at a dealership.

I have an extra cubby for that space. Yours for the price of shipping.
