So, how did this site come about and how is it different?
Ok, so there is this site and the other site minus the "vans".
How did it all come about? Was there a falling out?
I ask because there are so few active van owners...it would be great if everyone was in one place vs. trolling two.

What do you think of my quest to swap transfer cases to the venerable BW4472?

Re: So, how did this site come about and how is it different
The other site was first and was run all by one man.
Then life got busy for him and he didn't have as much time to run the board.
The board started crashing and tons of info was lost.
People got sick of all the posts being lost and the owner not taking help that was offered.
So this board was made as a back up with the thought we would go back when things got fixed. But then the old board got shut down and put up for sale. We all laughed and thought why save the old board when all the info and members were here. Then along came Austin and payed to start the old board back up.
Several members tried to go there and see how it was. Unfortunatly Austin had made several bad deals with people so many didn't want to join. I tried but got sick of how the board was run over there Austin is paranoid that someone might find this site or possibly post a link to another car forum. I got sick of him and the other mods and left at the same time a few other long standing members left.

Re: So, how did this site come about and how is it different
Kidhauler pretty much nailed it.
Austin quickly proved himself an ass and many of the folks here decided they didn't need that drama. He has done some underhanded things since buying AS.com and has gone out of his way to keep people from finding this site.
Several of the people here have been around since before AS.com was created. (We used to use another site back then.) We have a pretty extensive knowledge base because of that, and thanks to the folks that have come along since. I know there are also some newer people at AS.com that would be a great addition to this site and hopefully one day they will discover ASV.

Well, I am here because someone over at AS said "I found x problem over at this site plus vans". So, here I am.
Just wish there were more owners who posted.
Thanks the information. I really appreciate it. =D>

x2 on the paranoia. Go to their site if you like having your private messages read.
It's better over here.

Re: So, how did this site come about and how is it different
From the old board the guy who is equipped to give the history I would think would be Zam(he has for yrs run the boards)And guys, not to slight anyone. There is a long list of guys from the beginning.Justice,Lifted,Firescakes,Lockdoc,Rebel,so many key players it's hard to list them all.
I think I came on board about 2004 or 2005.If I remember it right, the board had been on line with the Old owner Will in 2002 or 2003.
Well I leave the details for guys who have been at the controls.
One thing about this source of advise,it if it is coming from one of the old timers, that advise is rock solid and been answered 100's and 100's of times. And is NOT that I am saying new members don't have the same advise. All I am saying here is these old timers have very deep pockets of experience and know what they are talking about.Threw the yrs they have show me that over and over again.

Re: So, how did this site come about and how is it different
For me the biggest difference is the respect that is shown to all of us by all of us. Even when discussions get a bit heated there is still that respect for someone's opinion. And the real treasure is the wealth of knowledge that is so willingly shared. This is a great opportunity to say "Thank You" to all of you guys and gals who have made this site special.

I agree, the content here seems much higher quality and more consistent. Glad I found it.
