NECO

Post by Smiliesafari »

There hasn't been much talk about another North East Camp Out. I'd like to propose a return of the event. The Red, White and Blue Balloon Rally is being held in Letchworth State Park http://nyfalls.com/letchworth-main.html. This event is held Memorial Day weekend. The dates are: 5-27,28,29,30, 2011. This would be a great opportunity for us to meet and socialize with the best Astrosafarians on mother earth. \:D/ Cherie and I will be there. Bill (Snapple) and Gary came last year. I can't tell you how great it was to meet the brothers. We would like to meet more of you guys and gals. I can guarantee it will be a weekend you wont forget. If you would like to camp in the park you need to make reservations early. The camp sites fill up fast.

Regrettably, due to Amy & I both having to work Memorial Day weekend. We had to cancel our reservation and won't be attending after all! Seriously bummed over this!

The event consists of a flight in the canyon, morning and evening if the weather is good. Balloon flights are always dependent on weather. After the flights we hang out with friends, eat at local restaurents, and do some sightseeing. It's a great fun social event. There are no competitions, no prizes, no big money to win. Everyone there is there just for the fun of flying and being with friends.

I have done a long range weather search for the Letchworth area and it appears as though it will rain all weekend. The event hasn't been officially canceled however it's just too far and too expensive to attend and do nothing more than watch it rain all weekend. Regretfully Cherie and I will not be there this year. So, the up side is this gives all of you slackers (haha) a year to make plans for next year. \:D/

Yes, the weather was another concern. We've had alot of rain this Spring! Last year was a really nice weekend weather wise. The odds for it being good 2 years in a row for tent camping? :toimonster:

Sorry you guys are going to miss it! But least I won't feel as bad not being there.
Heres to next year!
