Thought I posted this here, but I'm looking for information on some parts that may lead to a brake swap. I want to know about the C1500 HD (F44 package) or Suburban spindles. They used these until they went to the sealed hub design, I think that was in the mid 1990s. What I want to know is A)the overall height of the spindle where it connects to the ball joints B)how far from either the top or the bottom of the rotor is to the top or the bottom of the spindle (the ball joint mounting surface) C)how long the lower control arm is from the bolt to the ball joint center D)the spacing between the set of bushings and E)the overall with from bushing to bushing. I may have figured out a brake upgrade for the 2WDs with a little luck.

i see what you're getting at.. i think

C1500 in 95 for example: front had 10" or the larger 11" rotors, diff calipers and pads accordingly

i would say without getting into all that measuring, call a dealer and get them to cross ref the actual spindle part numbers between the two brake options. we already know that the rotors and pads on our vans are the same as the 10" C1500 ones, correct? so if the C1500 11" go on the same spindle you'll already have your answer.

or maybe i'm posting too early in the am again? :-k

The LD spindles use the same wheel bearings as the Astro/Safaris do as well as the same rotors etc. but the drop spindles don't seem to be universal between the applications that I have seen. The HD ones (the ones I am interested in) do not have the same wheel bearings. That is why I need spindle measurements. There is also the possibility something is changed like the ride height or slight adjustments in the angle of the steering linkage may be required.
