Interesting.........I did not know that they were called sex bolts. My wife has a bizzilion binders at the law office that are held together with them.

In high school, I machined some sex bolts and mating screws out of a piece of brASS.

The mating screws wear out the female threads. I prefer the socket screw. It's like a set screw with head. These days I have to settle for stripper bolts.

I too only learned the true term of these nuts, which they insist on calling bolts. I used 'em on the door to my home office-turned-gunroom, which I just completed. They do work very well, I just wonder why they called 'em sex-nuts?

Common that was the whole point of the thread! You have a male side ... a female side ... they screw into each other and mate...
