Baby got new shoes

Post by CaptSquid »

I just replaced all four on Klementine XV. One of the many previous owners had put 215/70R15s on her, which lowered her profile and ground clearance. Then, some dimbulb put another brand on the right rear. The belts started separating, resulting in a Mixmaster ride. The tires I put on her were Cooper Discoverer HT 235/75R15. They have a nice agressive tread design and ride quietly. My fuel consumption should improve with the RIGHT size tires on her.

Isn't that a larger than stock size?

Thanks, Jim

PS What is your rear geared at?

The width is wider than stock, but the rest is stock. The 70 series tires on her resulted in a lower ground clearance and also caused the front air dam to hit and drag every time you went in or out of a driveway. That dam isn't cheap, either.

As it was, the fuel consumption was approximately 14 mpg. Now, with new shoes in the right size and a full ($EXPEN$IVE$) tank of fuel, we'll see how she does.

235/75R15's are about 1.3" taller than stock. They will look better on any van than the stock 215's. Got pics?

i likes me some Cooper tires. FWIW, several of the PepBoys house brands of tires are made by Cooper. I use the Definity EX600 tires on my vans and have always had good luck with them. I just replaced the GoodYear Eagle GA's that came on the wifes Grand Caravan with a set of the Definitys and the improvement in the ride was immediatly noticable.

Stock PSI, no rubbing, no speedo issues (as yet). I haven't found a friendly LEO to pace me yet. Still waiting for the Rancho 5000s to arrive to take care of the rotten front end shocks. That'll take care of a lot of bouncy-bouncy.

eg: if it said '100' i was doin more like '110'.

I topped off the tank today, just before the prices jumped. Then, I did the MPG figures and found that my mileage has improved -- from 14 mpg to 14.71 mpg.
