Marshal Dillon, RIP

Post by CaptSquid »

James Aurness (Arness), the 6' 7" tall actor known for his portrayal of that Dodge City Marshal Dillon, has gone on to the last roundup. He died in his home at the tender age of 88. He also portrayed the intergalactic carrot in The Thing..

During his service in World War II, James Arness received the Bronze Star; the Purple Heart; the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze campaign stars; the World War II Victory Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

And another one leaves us. Freakin' sad.

My dad once told me that it was a terrible feeling to see all your friends, favorite singers and actors die off one at a time. Kinda puts you in touch with your own existence.

I forget.Who played Chester???.Wasn't there a Fester too??.

One funny line I remember to this day was Matt asking Chester about cleaning the coffee pot.He said "no sir, everytime I make another pot it tastes better". :muhaha:

Dennis Weaver played Chester. Festus was played by Ken Curtis. Uncle Fester was played by Jackie Coogan (The Addams Family). All have gone on to their respective rewards.
