Ditto on the lunch break.
The weather in Vancouver FINALLY improved, after all those record lows. I did some seaside rock climbing yesterday after work yesterday which was a real treat. Dropped my camera in the ocean though.

Food lore is pretty much like most stories of American History as taught in Elementary school: Romantic, but ultimately wrong. (i.e. Paul Revere gets too much credit for his short ass trip compared to Israel Bissells 345 mile 4-day sprint)
Popular lore has it that Macaroni and Cheese was invented by Thomas Jefferson, but it's really a variation on a variety of pasta and cheese dishes available worldwide since the 14th century.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaroni_and_cheese
George Washington Carver supposedly invented Peanut Butter (among the hundreds of other peanut products he did invent), but peanuts were known to be cultivated for food by as early as the 10th century B.C. and there are documented accounts of the Aztecs making peanut butter in pre-Columbian times. Peanut-Butter was "re-invented" in the late 19th century as a protein substitute for certain ailments that made meat digestion difficult. Mechanisms for automating the production of nut butter were patented in the late 1800's and early 1900's and modern peanut butter really became cheap/available/popular at the World's Fair in 1904. Incidentally, commercially pre-sliced bread wasn't popular until the 1920's and '30s.

The actual origin of the PB&J is unknown, but my money is on one of the patients who was eating peanut butter every day due to an inability to digest meat. I'd be able to eat straight peanut butter for about two days before I got bored enough to start putting it ON stuff WITH other stuff.
Food history nut, but you should see me play 'Scene-It', I'm unstoppable.

HAHA very funny. My camera (the 2 or three pieces of it) is swimming with the fishies at the bottom of Howe Sound.
