what yr did astro lose carb

my 87 is tbi. 85s were carb. I think 86 probly was carb too cuz it has the 2 piece rear main seal and flat lifters as well.
Coulda been a weird transition year thought too, just like the 95...

I had two 1986's and neither had carburetors.

1985 carb with HEI dizzy

This is a fuel pick-up from a 1985 which is a no in tank pump.If a in tank pump is used it has to be from a TBI van which is closer to a carb fuel pressure but needs a return port regulator.And no it is not suggested you try to draw fuel threw a non operating in tank fuel pump.You can see based on the pick-up it is a Q-jet return fuel style carb.



As I said already-you need a HEI dizzy.The carb versions did not have as much HP as the later CPI or SFI.And do not have the gas mileage either.I've owned both CPI and carb versions at the same time.
