Re: Does your van do this?

Toe out on turns occurs when the wheel at the outside of a turn does not turn as far as the wheel at the inside of the turn. Since the outside wheel has to drive in a wider curve than the inside one, it must be aimed for that different curve. Otherwise, the outside tire would scuff as it tried to tu...

Re: Rear end floating around??? Help!

This is from Alldata and I have found mistakes but it shows that a 1/2 degree caster or camber is OK. For AWD anyway. I've had 14 Astro's and Safari's but never a AWD.

Re: Does your van do this?

Positive Caster is what brings the steering wheel back to straight, the more positive the better the return but the harder it is to steer. When one wheel turns more than the other the van dips, it's normal. Wandering at speed is not. Good luck

Re: Rear end floating around??? Help!

Aloha betz, it sounds like your mechanic has all loose ends tied up, I'm certified in Alignments but would not do it on a customers vehicle. The angles go this way. Caster left 3.50 +- 1.00 right 4.50 +-1.00, Cross Caster (L-R) -1.00 +- 0.75, Camber 0.00 +- 1.00, Cross Camber (L-R) 0.00 +-0.60, Tota...

Re: Does your van do this?

Of the 5 Alignment angles, Camber, Caster, Toe, Steering axis inclination (SAI) and Toe out on turns. All 5 traditional angles are directional angles, meaning that they affect the direction the car moves. A 4 wheel Alignment also checks Camber and Toe but also Thrust angle and Setback

Re: Rear end floating around??? Help!

Yeah I'm with GEJ, The C-clips are relatively thin and I don't see wear on a 4 year old vehicle. If you move your wheels out a inch or so your van won't sway for that reason. Idler arms don't cause this ether, bushings will but, on a newish van? Larger tires cause faster wear on suspension parts but...

Re: LT1 SWAP

I may have found the problem with the shifting. I pulled the harness connector off the tranny and it has some fluid on it. I was checking to see if the wire that supplied power to the solenoids was hot and it wasn't but the one for the A shift solenoid did. I unplugged the computer connector to do a...

NO, You must use double flare fittings on brake lines. No stainless or copper. If you get into an accident a good lawyer will have your A$$.

Re: Code 44 only when it rains

Hey uncle V, I was wondering if the O2 sensor is getting soaked when you go in puddles. The way the O2 works is @ 600 degrees F the inner workings of the O2 measure the Oxygen content of the Exhaust and through a hole in the housing compares it to the outside air. Being that there is 14.7 % Oxygen i...

Re: Tranny Dip stick tube

Thanks You guys, now I have to find another Astro tube. I was going to try to get it out through the bottom but the tranny temp sender on the cooler line was in the way. The short tube I gots now aims toward the Passenger door and its a reach to get to the dipstick with the cover off, I'll see whats...

Tranny Dip stick tube

I had a leak from the fittings at the tranny ( I didn't tighten them) I thought the leak was coming from the tube seal, bought a new seal and it still leaked so I cut the tube and installed the one from the 95 Caprice. I was wondering if anyone has installed a stock tube on the Astro with out loweri...

Re: LT1 SWAP

The returning saga of the swap. I drove the van today, it wouldn't start off in first gear and if I go to low 1 it seams to be in 2nd. The tranny on the astro has the transmission position switch on the tranny, the Caprice has it on the column so I don't have a PNP. Help! Oh and no Oil gauge, Speed-...

Re: LT1 SWAP

OK, the reason it wouldn't shut down with the key switch is 2 wires going to the Computer were getting volts only when the key is on run and start instead of battery volts always. Which is weird because I was expecting the other way around. So Now wire up the fans and get it going.
