Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
well, let's just say they didn't fix the problem. Put the scraping center link problem could be from my idler arms bing worn out again. So I should reserve judgment until I replace those in a couple of weeks. That said, this is what one of them looked like after a couple of days. I emailed Energy Su...

Re: np136 vs np236
But we knew that, right? Apparently they used this in “light duty” applications, the 231c I have is of the same pattern. No big problem, because we know that GM also makes a 6 bolt patterned trans/TC adapter because they are for sale ($50) on ebay. I think this is used in the ‘99 and up Astro with ...

Re: DIY: Astro AWD Motor Mount Replacement Energy Suspension
Ya, I'm sure they'll cover my time too LOL! I guess I might get to see how that job goes with the water pump in place  I'm not 100% sure on the idler arms being the culprit. I can't push the center link up that far (to contact the pulley) manually, but I'm thinking perhaps with more force ...

Re: DIY: Astro AWD Motor Mount Replacement Energy Suspension
Well, I think I got it figured out; the motor mounts weren't the problem. Yes they were worn out and I'm glad I replaced them (even if I was whining), but I just checked my idlers (using the correct method of up/down force applied to the cross link) lots of play! (Moog with 30,000 miles) #-o So unde...

Re: np136 vs np236
You will probably find that different length adapters correspond to different length input gears, at least that's what I found to be the case when I did the 242. http://astrosafarivans.org/bb2/download/file.php?id=1497&mode=view I wouldn't count on the clocking being correct either, as we have s...

Re: DIY: Astro AWD Motor Mount Replacement Energy Suspension
I hate chasing my tail on this; the new bushings should have fixed that; why it hasn't is going to keep me up at night... :-k Shimming the idlers has always been on my mind to correct some of the increased tierod angles. Problem is there is very little clearance between the idler pivot and the lower...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
Sounds like you're tracking it down. I think I'm in need of a new cat too as I keep throwing a 420 code and the cat is rattling, seems to run fine tho.

Re: DIY: Astro AWD Motor Mount Replacement Energy Suspension
Well now, wasn't that a total waste of a day and $100 bucks. There appears to now be less clearance between the oil pan and axle tube than before the change out and I have just as much (or more) pulley to tie rod (or whatever that steering component is called) contact under torque. Not sure how that...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Poly motor mounts came in the mail today... oh boy! Thankfully my new water pump crapped out after 30K, so I've got it all torn apart anyway. :) Have fun with the motor mounts! What brand of water pump was it? I'm not sure of the brand; I got it from O' Riley, "TOTL", lifetime warrantee s...

I seem to recall one on the '98 toward the rear of the drivers side valve cover.

Re: P0420 Code
Commonly if a vehicle sets a P0420 & no other codes .... it is a cat convertor. Only in about 1% of the cases that I work on is it caused by something else like an exhaust leak, O2 sensor or faulty injectors. Aftermarket cats are usually significantly cheaper than a factory cat because they do ...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
One common problem (I had it) are the rubber vacuum lines at the solenoid tucked below and center of the heater motor in engine compartment.

Re: AWD Driveshaft transfer case yoke has a steel disc
I'm not familiar with '04. But my '98 had the driveshaft in the bottom of the photo. I replaced it with the top one. Is that the disk you refer too? If so, no issues not having it on my van.

house lights
A few years ago I put in a second battery and an "auto switching" circuit that switches interior lights and accessory circuits to the "house" battery when the ignition is OFF http://astrosafarivans.org/bb2/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=8396 . I also put in LED in the reading and cabin...
