Keyless entry swap

Post by astrojohn »

I'm parting out a 95 Safari. It had the keyless entry option, which I liked very much.
I now have a 96, and it came with a keyless entry fob, which did not work. I put batteries in it, and still did not work. I went onto a site that sold original type fobs for vehicles, and upon ordering, there was a page I could see if my van came with that option.
It told me to look for the code AUO. It did not have that code. I've also read the code AU5 is the option too.
Would that be an option too, possibly with the remote start too?
If not, I would like to remove it from the 95, and install it in the 96.
I don't know where to look for the central control for the 96, other than under the dash.
What does it look like, and what all do I need off the 95 for the 96?
Is the plug in harness in the same place on the 96 as in the 95?
I have the key fob for the 95, but need to know where to find and what to do to reprogram it for the 96.
I would appreciate help here from anyone who has done it.
