Emergency Brake Bracket replacement

Post by H2OJoe »

I installed the Overland 2" lift yesterday and everything went pretty smoothly but I cannot figure out how to remove the old emergency brake cable bracket. Please help!

You are supposed to separate the cable back near the gas tank so you can pull the cable through. I have had to cut the bracket and bend it to pull the cable out through it.

Thanks Lifted. That makes sense to me. I couldn't figure out how to remove the clip that holds it in the old bracket without damaging it.
My first instinct is to cut/beat it into submission.

I screwed up this step too. I left the brake cable for last, and then it wouldn't separate because the adjuster was a lump of rust. I already installed the new bracket and it wasn't coming back out. I ended having to take apart the rear brakes in the middle of a cold dark night. ](*,)

Well removing the 2 bolts that hold the old bracket on came out easy and that was essentially a no brainer. I still haven't been able to get the @#$% old bracket off the cable though. Schwabbie was supposed to swap out the brackets when they replaced my idler arms. I went to adjust it ebrake this morning and discovered low and behold they hadn't touched it. Guess it's time to bring in my old mechanic. This fix it yourself stuff is cheaper but a hell of alot more frustrating. :guitar:
