First things first: had to check out J's new ride. GasGas 450 LSE Fuel Injected, street legal. Very light, powerful, and fast (as if he wasn't already hard to keep up with!).
Wash T case in parts washer. Bring up ASV T-case install thread on garage computer.

Re: T.Low's take on transfer case swap 2spd electronic shift,
Most of the install went very smoothly. J had to notch out the crossmember with his plasma cutter because the front drive shaft was too low coming out of the NP233.
Then he welded in some reinforcement.

Re: T.Low's take on transfer case swap 2spd electronic shift,
Plenty of clearence for the front drive shaft. =D>
Good to go. We were really suprised that both the original AWD Astro drive shafts slide right in and fit perfectly (other thean the need to notch the crossmember). We didn't start till noon, and I was planning on not driving it home the same night, but we completed the job that same evenning. That includes seperating the relevant wiring from the (nearly) complete wiring harness of the donor vehicle, and soldering new connections, washing the T-case, etc.
Now I gotta go find a little hill to climb. Oh, and time to change the sig.

Re: T.Low's take on transfer case swap 2spd electronic shift,
I am not familiar with the '97. You should be able to find which model t case you need from the other t case swap threads and then use this link to find out what donor vehicles have those t cases.

Good luck.

Re: T.Low's take on transfer case swap 2spd electronic shif
Hoping to pick up a 233 this week and should be able to pull the harness, TCCM and pushbuttons too. Any more tips and trick on the wiring side? Any programming need to be done? Were you able to use any of the Astro's AWD wiring?
