For me, the ideal vehicle mix is:
1) Daily driver: Highly reliable sedan, good fuel economy. Now I have a 2005 Accord 4 cylinder manual
2) Motorcycle for fun: 2009 Suzuki DL650 "Wee Strom". It is sometimes called "the Swiss Army Knife" of motorcycles, because it does many things acceptably well, and excels at nothing.
3) A light truck for backup and hauling: I bought a 1996 Astro passenger version with supposedly 93,000 miles on it, and the factory towing package. I bought the Astro because it has good towing capacity, and it is the only truck-based, older min-van that can carry 4' x 8' sheet goods with the rear door closed. I like the driving position. And hate the cheap plastics that GM used.
I'm moving to the Midwest and hope that it will be useful. Also, New Mexico vehicles have almost no rust, even when they are very old. Midwest cars get rusty fast.
Projects before the trip:
> I have DexCool sludge, so need to flush it,
> Some differential noise that is load related. Need gear lube change
> Heater fan doesn't work.
> Window regulator motors don't work.
