Took a 2 nighter with my kids and their mom from Sun to Tues up at Craigleith provincial park http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/crai.html which is on the western shore of Nottawasaga Bay which is itself part of Lake Huron.
As far as Provincial parks go its pretty small and seemed to be more of an over-night park for people travelling thru the area going somewhere else. Our main purpose was to take the kids to Wasaga Beach for the day which is located about 30 min from Craigleith and is one of the nicest and largest freshwater beaches in the world. Once we arrived at the park and till the day we left the weather co-operated and was for the most part sunny although a little cooler than we had hoped for. As usual I had the camera with me and took a couple pics...

These 2 were takin the 1st night we arrived, looking to the north-west...

and...

The next morning looked a little iffy for beach weather so while waiting for it to clear we took a couple more pics at our campsite...

Maddy and her Mom (Jodie )...
Image
Darn tourists, can't get any privacy anywhere these days,LOL...
Image

Once the weather cleared up we were off to Wasaga Beach...
As you can see in this pic the shoreline is about 75yrds from where we were sitting, you can walk out another 100yds and the water is only chest deep...
Image
They started to make a sandcastle but decided it was more fun to destroy it...

part 2 to follow...

If the weather had been warmer and if it was the wknd the beach would have been packed,as it was we practically had the place to ourselves, these were our nearest neighbors about 100yrds away...
Image
This kite boarder must have put 20 miles on just going back and forth along the shoreline...
Image
Kids being silly...
Image
Actually Seagulls are a pretty nice looking bird, when they mind their own business and don't try to poop on you...
Image

All that sitting on the beach makes you thirsty,so it was back to camp to chill by the water and enjoy a couple cold ones before dinner, this btw is an extremely rare pic,LOL...
Image

Mmmm whats cooking over the fire????
Image

A hearty pan of sausage, salsa, cheesy onions and pepper nachoes of course...
Image

After dinner it was back down to the bay for a little more exploring...
Image

And where Maddy decided to try her hand ( or should I say feet ) at walking on water...
Image

In the morn we grabbed our coffee's and took our final walk down the little path to the bay, heres a view looking south-east, It got our day off to a great start...

And there you have it, our own little (48hrs) Canadian campin style

Wow, nice photos.

Nice mix of sand beaches and rock ledges. Although i'm not sure exactly where you were, I'm familiar with that are from paddling it back in the late '90s a lot. Mostly more towards Tobermory.

Nice pics, Keith. And I'm guessing by the bandage on his ankle that your son is just getting over the flea attacks from NECO, just like me

great pics Keith... too bad it wasn't a bit warmer for you. weather overall has kinda sucked this summer. I wasn't going to say anything (about the rare pic, I was thinkin it) ... LOL .. I'm 100% sure the kids loved having both parents on the trip with them.

Would be great to have you guys up,Perhaps a mini neco ( Canadian addition ) some time in the near future.

Tobermory is a nice place, super clear water great for diving I hear. Its the point where the waters of L.Huron flow into the arm of Nottawasaga bay.The area where we camped was all shale ledges,Wasaga is located at the bottom of the bay and is all sand.
Nice pics, Keith. And I'm guessing by the bandage on his ankle that your son is just getting over the flea attacks from NECO, just like me
Poor Peter,LOL actually Quinn had a nice little wipe-out on his bike along the gravel road at the campsite.
