BArlow Rd this weekend, then going under the knife next week

Post by T.Low »

As tired as we are from a full summer, we figure winter is long so go go go.

6 hr drive tomorrow to get to Government Camp, east of Portland. Hookin up with the crew that we did the Owyhee trip with late spring. Be home Sunday, then going under the knife Monday. Gotta cut my lid. Hope it turns out okay, but I'm not gonna worry about it, its out of my hands. Just shoulda done it earlier, thats all. My summer woulda been that much better. But they couldn't fit me in for a while, so...next week. Will be glad when thats over with.

The trip was great. I will post more later, maybe tonite if I can get pics from some of the others.

Now, I must get the van north of the border so it can go under the knife. Yes, I appreciate your concern, but it is only steel, plastic and rubber. I won't be watching when they cut 'er lid. Hopefully, if all goes well, I will get 'er back Friday, new and improved.

I'm sorry for misleading you all and causing concern, of any amount. I was purposefully vague about the procedure so as to suprise you, and yes it is the Astro getting cut open, not me. For some of you, thats more cause for concern, I know. Got the heart of a Lion, that Astro, will come thru it stronger than before, a better camper than before. Just a little augmentation surgery, thats all.

Stay tuned.

HA! now that's just sneaky! I was wondering what you meant when you said "gotta cut my lid". I didn't ask, because I was afraid I didn't want to know :yikes:

Now I've done it: after seeing my new Avatar, the Land Rover boys are calling me "Elroy"!

The lifted Bronco II and one of the lifted Jeeps kept playing around in the dry creek bed. The Bronco got on the CB radio and said "The Astro can do it". Replies came pouring in "Oh, I gotta see this".

It looked a litter steeper from the driver's seat. One guy in a '08 long wheelbase KJ? (red) was very complimentary. He said he scraped his skid plate and that I came thru clean. Good group of people. These phots were taken by the trip leader Ryan. My slideshow is at the end of the three Astro shots ( a video or two in photobucket also).
