So an engine with 50k on it will cost me 500 bucks. Mounts right from summit racing cost me 70(trans-dapt brand swap mounts). So whats the deal with the wiring do i need the ecu from the v8 truck? how much of the wiring harness? i have 800 to play with after engine and mounts im left with 230...is this a possibility? or should i just put another v6(ew) in.

Everything you need to know is posted in this forum already. Study up my friend. Study a lot. Then figure out what you want to do. $500 for a 50K motor is awfully cheap. You basically need a V8 around the same year as your 2000 with everything still attached. Is that what it is?

i believe it still has the full harness its a small nobody friend of a friends yard so things are cheap....if it doesn't have the harness i can probably still get a hold of one.

this is also a newer year (2000) swap so im gonna be bugging vance a lot

i think im going to go through with it i just hope i don't run outta cash

Kevin, whatever your budget is, add 25% minimum!

you need motor. Mounts, v8 computer out of a vehicle that is gonna run that motor/tranny combo and it needs to corrispond with things like ABS, AWD, PASSloc Ect. If things hit the fan, a local tunner shop help a bit with these things, but it cost money. The harness can be modified to adapt differant years and the extra injectors, but you need wiring harness resources to get it all figured out, so once again, get a harness from the year truck that you get the motor out of to make it close. Once you get it in, you will have to modify things like the exhaust, dipstic tubs, fill tubes ect. to make them fit/lock good. If you are going for the cheapest route possible, you dont need to worry about replacing things while you have it apart like body coushins, motor mounts, painting things, whatever. This is the swap in a VERY small nutshell.

well i just round a new resource for my engine a friends godfathers yard. 250-300 for a 96 5.7 and its a vortec. there is 4-5 of them there might be one a few years newer too. so 250-300 for the engine and what ever parts i rip out of the truck 40-70 for the mounts...and i have 800 bucks...this is just to replace the v6 no big build up so im hoping with my resources that i can get it done with what i have...when i get my check the journey begins

Don't forget that your already slipping tranny will not last long behind the 350. Plan money for the rebuild!
