Last night I was thumbing through the latest issue of Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off-road magazine and was looking through a section called "Bugout-Mobiles". It is about expedition-ready wheelers. It shows the likes of Unimogs, Sportsmobiles, Gowesty Syncros, Unicats, Earthroamers and one of our very own...

Congrats Tom on the wedding and the mag feature! :bounce:

Wow, thanks Dean, and thanks for the props guys.

The magazine contacted me and asked for a lot of camping style pics and permission to use them. I said of course under one condition; that they credit ASV, Overlandvans, and GTRV (pop top). As I've said before, I wouldn't have the van in the first place if it wasn't for ASV showing me what was possible and then helping me build it.

I asked him how he found me. He (Fred, Technical Director at Petersen's 4Wheel and Off Road) said he was driving down the freeway in L.A. thinking about other angles for that article and a lifted white Astro cargo van went blowing by him (97CargoCrawler, Jack) He said it was the coolest van he'd ever seen so he chased the guy down. 97CC told him all about ASV and Deans van and all the others. So Fred surfed ASV and told me that his editor really liked the picture that they ended up using, but for me to send him a bunch more.

I forwarded Deans post to my new Bride and told her she's REI's Next Top Model. :muhaha:

Maybe this could get a little more exposure for Dan and help him sell the company to someone like AmericanExpeditionVehicles or something. Who knows, but it can't hurt.

This is a great website, thanks again for everything, guys.

Made my weekly pilgrimage to Wal Mart to do the grocery shopping today and they didn't have the magazine! ](*,)

I have to have it, so I guess I'll make a trip to Borders Bookstore this weekend.

Just a thought but Dean gets his magazine through a subscription via the mail. I wonder if they are even on the new stands yet? After all it is the July 09 issue and it is just May LMAO.

One more thing about the van: My mom and dad and nephew and two nieces flew out for the wedding. For a week the seven of us took the van all over to show them our favorite local places (I took the camping interior out and put the seats back in). Then we drove down to the Seattle airport with seven people and luggage as they were flying home and Jen and I were flying to Mexico.

Jen commented that out of all the rigs that we have travelled and wheeled and camped with, NONE of them could have done that week of family shuttle, not to even mention all the luggage on airport shuttle day.

Lifted Astro 4x4, there is no replacement!
