Re: Auto Door Locks?

According to my 98 owners manual, it is not an option in 98.

Re: Gettin on the limiter?

The ECM you have could be setup for multiple size engines. It is the 4 digit PROM code after the service number that tells you what it is programmed for. Peter bought the trans controller because the ECM for his Ramjet engine did not control a transmission like our ECM does. There is no rev limiter ...

Re: lifting a 91 AWD Tiger

From that last pic I can see no reason why you couldn't use the blocks up front like any other Astro. Don't forget you will need a 2WD steering linkage along with it.

Re: 91 gas tank fit 99?

The difference between the two is the hole that the pump and sender fit into. The 99 has the plastic module and the locking ring for it is different than the earlier non module type. I know this because I just changed the one in my 98 and noticed the difference.

Re: lifting a 91 AWD Tiger

The springs in your first pic were not the stock springs to start with. Tiger apparently already upgraded them. It came from the factory with a fiberglass mono spring. Having your shop make up new ones would be the best bet as anything pre made for an Astro would not be setup for the added weight yo...

Re: Wouldn't start...now it will!!!

Just went through the same with my 98 so this may help others. Once I narrowed it down to no spark I figured it was one of four things. Going through the factory manual this is what I went with: 1) Cam Position Sensor. Crossed that off because I found out the van will run without it. 2) Crank Positi...

I have thought about it in the past but I could never justify shelling out that much dough on it.

Re: Transmisison Filter O-ring Help needed

Looking at your pics, the metal sleeve for the seal is still in there. Just use an awl or similar and wedge it between the ring and case. It will bend inward and you can remove it. You will probably need to bang at it with a hammer to start it.

Re: Cracked wires in the door hinge area

Nice repair done right! I have had a problem with those wires in a few vans. Difference with mine was that I had the complete opposite problem. The wires broke INSIDE the insulation. I found the breaks by checking which wires stretched when pulled.

The SPB is back in NY in Saranac Lake. It's being used as an attention getter at a auction/car lot.

Newest addition

I finally got a hold of a beautiful van that needs nothing for a great price. Just get in and drive. What a concept huh? It is a 2001 AWD. It actually looks just as good in person.

Re: Ole Yellar rust repair

I have a new cherry picker.I don't like the way those work because when you lift off the body off the sub frame you end up having the picker in the way of rolling out straight forward the sub frame. Really? You put jack stands under van after you lift it. :poke: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...

Re: trans does not go in gear when cold out

It may be just as simple as adding fluid. You haven't mentioned if you checked it or not. It might never have been filled properly since the filter was replaced a couple months ago. In case you don't know, check the fluid while the van is running and at operating temp.
