It was pretty freaky walkin' around out there. I'd guess it was 3" thick. Some of the ice was so clear you could see the bottom. We were careful and the water across that section of river was only about 3 feet deep.

When I was living in NH, people drove out on the lakes up there all the time. You wouldn't catch me doing it. Supposedly, there's over 100 cars at the bottom of Lake Sunapee alone.
