Remote battery box

Post by Water Boy »

I was told getting my beauty sleep was a waste of time.

1990 Astro (Z motor) mostly original @ 343,584 miles (552,944.8488960001 Canadian) (03/2008). Bad startup puff. Starting to spray for skeeters. Gone 06/07/08.
1993 Astro with a bad W motor. Parked next to a chicken coop in Talking Rock GA
I'm 'tween Canton and Holly Springs (North NorthWest of Atlanta GA)
I haul bottled water everyday- between 500 and 2500 pounds (226.796185 and 1,133.980925 Canadian) INSIDE the van.

Nice box and made out of stainless. Very nice.
At work, the shop just pulled several aluminum tanks from a couple of trailers we're selling and plans are to build a battery box from one of these hydrolic fluid tanks but that won't be anytime soon. To much going on with getting ready to move.
Thanks for posting. Only thing I'd do different is instead of crimping the connectors would be to solder them. Always run the risk of crimp on coming off over time.

I was surprised b the crimp.
But then, to solder that wire takes more than your typical 15 watts iron.

I'm sure this will do the job........

Good info!
I've been looking to add a second battery...
I'll head to the junk yard Saturday.
BTW, where do folks usually mount a second battery? I've been thinking about the open area under the floorpan below the driver's seat and using a gell-cel batt so I can lay it on it's side...

Mine is in a box behind the driver's seat right now, but this is where I want it to end up:

It nestles in perfectly under the floor beneath the driver seat, which works out well because that's where my inverter sits.

Cool tip on the econoline box. I need something for mine so I can relocate the battery. How much did that aluminum box set you back?

+1 for that battery box. :yawinkle:

By the way, this Taylor Remote Battery box is what I'm planning to have. I find it perfect for applications that require relocating your battery. The kit already includes all the things needed for the installation.
