got it back this afternoon. it still shifts hard, and that noise i said i had, they told me that it was my shroud hitting my fan. which is total bull. oh well, nasty noise is gone for now. they told me to drive it for a bit because where everything is new it had to break in. that is why it's shifting hard. what do ya's think? any new vehicle i've driven never shifted hard when it was new. it doesn't make sense to me.

I remember Lockjaw having some sorta issue with his tranny when he first rebuilt it. Had to do with the shifting. The secret (believe it or not) is to beat on it every once in awhile in order to "seat/unstick" some piston/valve/doohickey which is in a tight bore and needs awhile to be able to slide freely.
Dean, I no longer wish to be your friend. I find that you don't take my verbal abuse as you used to in days gone by. You've...you've changed, Deano. And quite frankly, the magis just ain't there anymore

Tell them to fix it, period. For $2000, it should drive and shift like a new van right out of their parking lot; no if's, and's, or but's. When you drive out of there, it should 100%. If it needs broken it, which is a load of crap, tell them to do it before giving the van back to you. Also tell them to save all the old parts. After the problem is actually corrected, see what they use as the excuse, then verify the removed parts actually needed to be removed so they can paid accordingly, and not a dollar more.

The Astro is as common as they come, the tranny is extremely popular choice and used on many car/trucks/vans. This should be a "bread and butter" job for them.

i was actually dumb enough not to get any of my fixed stuff back the first time. actually the first 2 times. they said they'd scan it for me. aren't they nice?

i'm thinking of taking it to a competitor that says they will scan a tranny for free.

I would keep going back and make them do the job right! Either that or give you your money back. ](*,) For a fresh rebuild with no shift kit, it should be as smooth or smoother than when new. They did a crap rebuild job!

Or tell 'em you'll bring it to GM for a proper diagnosis and then sue 'em for damages. Judges almost always side with Mr Joe Citizen

Well, here's what i got figured out. My first appt is with mr transmission who tells me they will give me a free diagnostic on my tranny. after that is complete, my next stop will be cottman transmission. of course cottman will not know that i just previously went to a competitor. we'll see what goes down i guess........
