New Mexico Rides

Post by trybe13 »

I was in Roswell today (yes that Roswell #-o ); and I saw this:

Image

Man! I keep my windshield clean!! :supz:

I wanted to get more shots, but I was driving and alone. Figured it better that I don't wreck my ride trying to get shots of theirs!! I pulled up next to them, but they did'nt want to talk. (I'm amazed at the amount of other Safari/Astro owners who seem pissed that my ride is tricked!! :-k) I was really digging their ride, but oh well. (We need to name this place so I can get a sticker made up for my rear window!!)
I recently seen an Astro 2 hrs east of here with HUGE wheels on it, and cool paint, but I didn't have my camera that time. I realized today that I should start a thread of all of the Safastro vans that I can find in this corner of the world.

Here's one in th local Wally World parking lot:

And this one is really hot!!

Stay tuned.....

I agree trybe, I'd like to get a large sticker for the back of the van but I'd like something that's a little nicer than what was being sold on the old board. They looked somewhat "typical" and quickly thrown together. I think we can do better. Also, I still have a hook-up at a vinyl graphic shop if we need somebody to cut the stickers out. All I need is a graphic file and I can get a price on different quantities.

Also,
I used to run a group called TeamIntegra.net (back in my import days) :)
and we had small, cheap stickers that we would put under the windshield wipers of nice Integras that we would see in parking lots. I see TONS of Astros/Safaris on the road everyday and i'm sure the rest of you do too.

Here's a link i just found for ultra cheap stickers. They sell 100 stickers for $25, not a bad deal.

This van is always parked about 2 houses from me down the street. Haven't had a chance to chat with the owner yet. Gonna get some of those stickers made up from the previous reply and start leaving them on vans.

I think it's really neat when others give you a nod or thumbs up. it still happens in my dakota from other dakota owners even though mines pretty well back to stock appearance now.

i know that bike riders do it alot.. esp harley ones. i think it's much cooler to see another way more common vehicle (ie. astro/safari) owner doing that. i'm really glad i've moved back out to a city that's only around 36,000 population (with feeling of about 5000). when I was closer to toronto everyone was affraid to talk to everyone else (with very few exceptions). it's like they think you want something or are going to rob them or whatever. you honk to give a thumbs up and they are scared to even look over and just ignore you. sheesh .. you'd think guns were legal up here or something .. LOL

So how do we get the Astro/Safari owners to wave at each other? I need some way to ID other AS.com vans on the road.

Im in ABQ and have Astro fever bad..lemme tell ya. Started w a nice 91 RS 4.3 HO and now I've got a second 89 parts van to get the manual 5 sp out of it to put into the 91 RS.
So in order to get the Astro thing going more around here, anyone can have my 89 Astro Cargo rust free body minus trans for =D> FREE =D> . I'll even assist in delivery if its not too far. I can post pics of the cargo..but I'l put in 3 of my 91 now if I can do it; [/img]

Guess Not....what a pain

If they came in one of those chrome-jelly stickers I'd display it.

Looks like P-diddy is the first to pimp a Chevy Express:
