Hello from Oklahoma

Post by pappy327 »

I see the last newby is also from the area.
Bought my 92 Asro in 04, needed haulin room for job.
Great runnin van, needed little maintenance, but great overall.
Great ride, strong 4.3L motor, basic tires and rims, will do better later.
Went down in 07 and could not repair then, (life) but got it runnin
2 weeks ago. Not trusting it yet, just drove it back and forth to work,
and in town. Now nothing from my tranny but first gear. Dont know tranny's
and need all the help I can get.
Got a lot of good how2's from here, but don't know what to do next. Cash
very tight right now. May have to park it again, but don't want to.
Thanks in advance for the help I'll be getting.
Great site. Love the subject.
92 Chevy Astro 4.2L, Auto, 2WD no mods.... Yet.
98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.9L SuperCharged.... parked..... blown head gasket.

Love my Astro, like my Pontiac.
Now do I spend cash on 98 or 92 ??????????
Depends on cash, I'm not much of a mechanic anyways,
But do what it takes.

welcome pappy! if the '92 has the 700R4, i'd be willing to bet you aren't even getting off the forward clutches. My wag is that the 1-2 accumulator spring broke. Post up in the tranny forum. There's a number of guys here that are very experienced with transmissions.
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). B&M stacked plate trans cooler. Bilstein shocks. Belltech sway bars front and back. New head unit, speakers and subwoofer. Needs paint and a new headliner.

name's Steve
I can't remember all I've forgotten about that....
