Re: Swapping from the NP136 to the BW4472 (need feedback ple

So here is the deal, the tcase sits on my work bench. I have sourced a front shaft..and that is the next step. I don't want to swap it to my current van as it's not an 05. But...I realize swapping it to the new van won't be hard either. At any rate, I love having the tcase and the option of the Borg...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

well the cap and rotor made the spark a little better but still no fire. Swapped out the Crankshaft Position Sensor ( figured mine is org with over 200k km and dirty as hell ) but still no fire. Keep in mind I am doing this at work between phone calls and loading trucks LOL After lunch I pulled one...

Re: astro awd vs express awd

I researched this choice for about 6 months. Here are my conslusions based on the 2007-2009 AWD Pros: 1)Space-(duh) 2)Larger rear axle 3)Full time AWD (no computer/clutch drama). Viscous clutch 4)Higher clearance stock 5)5.3L motor. Best and toughest chevy ever made. 6)4L80 transmission vs. 4l60 (ma...

Re: On the hunt for a Unicorn (2005 AWD astro/safari )

Does a 2005 not have the same transfercase as a 2002? Other than 6 lug wheels and rear disc brakes is there much difference? Honestly my 98 is in better condition than most of the newer vans I looked at . Just curious what the diving force for a newer van is . It does have the same "Tcase"...

Re: On the hunt for a Unicorn (2005 AWD astro/safari )

It took me a year to find the van that I have now. I looked at a lot of duds before I found one that was about 95% of what I was looking for. I have rear AC but no rear heat and this van came from Colorado. The rear heat would be nice but I can survive without it since I got most of the other thing...

Re: On the hunt for a Unicorn (2005 AWD astro/safari )

So, when I checked out Rock Auto, the front calipers on 03 and up seem to be 2 piston while 02 and older seem to be single piston. I prefer dual piston. The braking on my current astro is barely adequate. In reading other members experiences with finding and retrofitting larger rear brakes, I don't ...

Re: On the hunt for a Unicorn (2005 AWD astro/safari )

It's sort of funny you posted this one. If I look at the photos, it does not have rear heat. I let the dealer know this..they disagreed...but when I clarified it..they never replied. Probably realized they got a bum deal.

Re: Astro van and their owner's retirements..kinda quiet

I have been quiet on the two forums (this one and the sell out one)...and have noticed a drop in overall traffic. When I got the van 3 years ago..lots of activity..now not soo much. Is this a trend? Am I wrong on this? Apparently there was so much traffic that the other site was sold...so maybe it'...

On the hunt for a Unicorn (2005 AWD astro/safari )

The plan is now completed and approved by the boss. We currently own a 2002 Astro. To be honest, it has not been as reliable as my 1999 4runner. That said...I understand that the 4runner was overbuilt...the astro is just built. Anyway, we have had this van for a little over 4 years. I have killed tw...

If that truck had a stick...it would be worth it. Auto and old 5.7? Two time bombs.

Nice welder. I live in Colorado. Don't think the glock can reach that far.

Just want to say... I googled "4.10 Gears Astro" and this was the first or second google hit. This site pops up about 60 percent of the time on astro google searches. Fun stuff.

My mother has done a fantastic job of alienating herself from everyone...I finally had to put some distance between us as she was not safe around my kids. I suspect to be in your exact situation at some point...sorry.
