Speedometer

Recently purchased a 1985 G30 with a Wiinebago coach on it. The speedometer was not working. I replaced the cable and now the speedometer works but the needle bounces through about a 40 mph range while accelerating though more stable at constant speed. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for accepting me into the group :-)

possibilities are:
- bad cable
- bad installation
- bad speedo gear in the tranny
- bad gauge

I would look at the cable while in motion and see if it's jerky/binding.
