But you would need a secondary separate road trip vehicle.

You could do the electric conversion yourself.

Yeah, I've been thinking about making an electric bicycle for my commute to work.

My brother (Bikehauler) Sells electric forklifts and I have been giving some serious thoughts about getting the engine out of one and stuffing it into the astro hooked up to the transmission so that it would still have some good top end as it would be able to shift up. I figure if the engine is designed to run a 8000lbs forklift plus the weight of the load and run for a 8 hour shift it should be able to push the weight of the van easy.

Of course I haven't got the cash to get this project on the go but it is a thought rattling around my little head you never know it might happen.
1999 Safari Touring edition.
trailer tow pack with a 3:73 posi
Bucket bench seats, Rear heat, Rear Airconditioning.
teal green
300 000 kms
AirRide air bags in the rear to fix soft stock suspension.
Onboard aircompressor to make it all work nice.

I've thought along the same line, but while it might never get done or even started.... nice to dream....

Im still toying with the idea to run a brushless powered
electric go cart.A couple years back I went to the vancouver electric vehicle show
& I was plesantly suprised at how much power a electric vehicle can produce.
90 Astro Cargo V-8
90 Artro RS - V-8 Now running!
& a bunch of tractors
