short term rough idle...temp sensor?

When the engine is cold and I start it, I get a rough stumbling idle about 1 to 2 seconds after being started. If i put it in drive right away it sometimes stumbles to a point of stalling. It almost feels like a spark plug miss but is not. The problem only occurs runs rough until driving a block or two and then will idle great after and when warm. A buddy of mine and I seem to think the exhaust smells rich when this happens and smells a little rich afterwards.

Some things I changed/checked are...

Checked the plugs
vacuum is good
IAC, coil, MAP sensor was changed last year
TBI cleaned last year
Head, intake, and TBI gaskets done last year

Any ideas? Gas mileage was good on my last trip a couple weeks ago. 21.1 highway

Anybody know if these are common symptoms of something? No check engine light. I'll have to break out my WinALDL lappy and check the temp sensor...
