on the steering columns of my 3 vans there us a small cover below the turn signal. The is where the lever for the tilt steering goes through. There are no screws holding this cover in place, how do you get it off?
I want to replace the turn signal levers on two of my vans but cannot since i can't get this cover off.
:-k

Justice, you don't remove the cover. If you have a tilt steering wheel, tilt it all the way down then just pull the turn signal stalk out from the base. Make sure you unplug the wiring from the connector before you do this. And tie a guitar string or fishing line around the end. Pull the wiring up, and then tie the new wiring into the string and pull it back down the column. Reconnect wiring, reinsert new stalk and bam! you're done.

James your right about the removal of the stalk as i just did this on the 88 i bought . but i have a problem when i put the stalk back in , it goes in all the way . alot easier than it came out , but it doesnt control the wipers the way it used to . it doesn't click when it turns & doesn't turn all the way like it used to & the washer part won't turn at all . i know its in all the way but something is wrong & i really don't want to pull the steering wheel & internals to remedy this if i don't have to . Any i deas ???????Justice, you don't remove the cover. If you have a tilt steering wheel, tilt it all the way down then just pull the turn signal stalk out from the base. Skippy, there is nothing in the steering wheel/column that controls those functions. The only thing in the steering column is the turn signal switch for the blinkers/flashers. I replaced the turn signal switch in my ride about a month ago.

All the functions you described are controlled by the stalk, the wiring on the stalk, and the module the wiring plugs into. Sounds like you need to replace your turn signal stalk with a new one, or at the least; check the module that the wiring plugs into.
Try swapping the stalk in your vans to run a quick test to find out if it's the stalk or not. If it is the stalk, here's where I got mine:

Hope I've helped, amigo.

James

Well, i managed to finally get the levers to come out..thats a pain! Now that I know how to get them out and back in, i just need to order a couple of replacement levers.

Take a look in the difference in price for the same part between your link and the one I posted!
