what's it worth?

Post by crash »

it's for sale locally.. i'm not really 'up' on values of cargo's, let alone awd cargos...

it's a 00 awd cargo.. seller only owned for 8mths .. bought it for a new business that didn't fly, very clean, high miles (265,000kms that is 165,000 miles), now for sale.

i can verify that part of the story as i drive by where it's parked about 10 times a day. i saw the van arrive there when he got it because i noted how clean it was and there was no window in the slider, yay. then i saw it get lettered. about 3wks ago i saw all the lettering gone and waited for a sign. no sign, just the ad online. i think they are getting ready to move ... i saw a trailer on the back of a grand am loaded last night when i took Jen for ice cream. they aren't currently driving the van. looks like they may have pulled insurance off

asking $3700

i emailed him and asked for his bottom line, mentioned the high kms. he said make an offer, said he paid $4200 cdn for it 8mths ago and did a bunch of front end steering/suspension work then. only drove it 5000kms in 8mths, new tires, new rear end gears, he said high km's because it was a security van before. said it has cage, rubber floor protector and shelf unit

I would not consider that high mileage, that is only 27K /year... I still think it is a little high with the soft market... maybe $2500... there will always be others

i was thinking the same thing Tristan. $2500 sounds about right. it's still sitting in his driveway. the guys primary daily is a bucket of a 93/94 caravan. i suspect there is a monthly payment getting pulled from his account every month, that or the way he's got it blocked in the driveway .. maybe there's nothing coming out of his account for it right now... reeeeepppoooo? LOL

i'm going to email him again and see what he says..

although, i did get a chance to pick up a mint loaded, leather, moonroof, one owner 99 envoy yesterday for $3000 .. :-k owner is a 'spare no expense' well off gentleman that just ordered a new ridgeline.. we'll see

Do "shop around" your local area and compare your selling price against others with simular van. In my area, your "very clean looking" van would probably go for $2,500 to $3,000. A few months back, I "traded in" my lemon AWD Safari Passenger van. Man, I still couldn't believe the dealer gave me $3,500 for it. What a sucker - considering all the things that "still" needed repairing on it.

Hope this helps...
