Bumper Fit from other GM trucks?

Post by Lumpy »

I'm going to go look at a winch bumper that fits
chevy trucks & blazers, suburbans, GMC etc 73-87.

Anyone have any idea if that will fit an 89 Astro,
maybe with some mild mods or ???

Thanks - Lump

I fit a Warn classic for the 88-98 GM's to CD0156's Astro. Width was perfect. I had to trim the curved ends to fit the line of the front fender and then made custom mount brackets.

Here is the trimmed end...

Thank you very much, Lifted. I was hoping you'd chime in as I knew
you had done something very similar.

The guy says this one is 76" wide. I think my stock bumper is 70" wide.
I'm hoping it'll work.

I also run across occasional Chev S-10 bumpers. Anyone know
if the S-10 is a close fit? Do those little pickups use a front
subframe like our vans do?

Thanks -

That there is some nice trim.

The s10 front axle is like 6" narrower...so I always thought the bumper must be narrower also.

x2 on the S10, way too narrow.

X2 on the 88 and up Chevy full size, width is good and the frames are similar in width.

the older (1987 and down) full size chevys have a narrower frame, so the mounts could be an issue.

I'd also look at bumpers for 98 and older full size Fords, they may be close, although I don't actually know.

Any way you look at it there's going to be some cutting and welding.
