Muffler or no muffler?
Ed doesn't have a muffler or pipes. Still, it's not very loud. I'm debating on whether to get straight pipes or go with a muffler. I talked to the guy at the muffler shop (would do it myself but I don't have access to a bender), and he said it would be about $50 to do straight pipes, and more than $100 to get a muffler. I'm wanting to get straight pipes, but will that make it louder? I've never worked with mufflers before, so I wouldn't know.

Where does your exhaust terminate right now? If it's anywhere underneath the vehicle, all that sound is reflecting back up at you. Ejecting the exhaust behind your van will get rid of a lot of that noise (and probably smell). Obviously, putting in a muffler will make it even quieter. $100 sounds like a good deal. Go for it!

Right now, I have the cat and all the pipes from there to the engine. That's about it.
$46 for a FlowTech? I thought they were one of the more expensive brands. I'll have to look that up. I was thinking about getting a Thrush Welded, but no matter where I looked on their website, I couldn't find a price.

Use summitracing or any similar online place for looking up parts to get an idea on pricing (local shops can't match them...but at the end of the day, sometimes local price is fair all things considered)
