Dash/Interior LED lights wiring

Post by Naude716 »

my dash lights are out and rather than finding what the problem is in the mess of wires.. I have 2 LED strips that I plan to put in the dash to fix the problem.. however I am unsure where the splice in the wires. I'm assuming the headlight switch would be easiest, but I don't know what wire goes to what on the harness. (I also have 6 multi colored tube lights I'd like to put in the interior and am wondering where I could splice the power switch into). Does anyone have a wiring diagram/answer/other solution they could share?

Let's try some simple shooting of troubles:

1. Check the fuses.

2. Do the idiot lights come on when you turn the ignition switch?

3. Do the radio lights and/or the climate lights come on?

4. If you rotate the thumbwheel (next to the headlight switch) all the way up, do the dome lights come on? If not, then it's the rheostat and it should be replaced.

Let us know of the results.

1. Fuses are in tact.
2. Idiot lights come on.
3. Climate lights are out, and my radio is an aftermarket upgrade (that works).
4. Thumbwheel lights my dome lights, and when i turned it down past the lower notch the dash/climate lights used to come on, but eventually started to flicker and then all went out at once.

Then just replace the headlight switch! There's your problem.
