Hypermiling tricks I've started using recently really are helping my mileage. Once again I got scared with the info center reading 23.1 gallons burned, but I was only able to pump 21.704. So I'm pretty sure now that on a full tank I have about 1 gallon above what it says I have left. Managed to get 468.1 miles on this tank, which works out to be 21.56 mpg and 34.75% above the EPA rating.
i just did 900+ miles going to OK and back in my 92 Astro, running 70-75mph most of the way, i averaged just under 21mpg on the trip up and just under 20mpg on the trip back. I always get better mileage on the way up because I run on flatter ground before I get into the Arbuckles on I35
the 92 is stock with the exception of a K&N Filter, and is closing in on 180000 miles.
i get 16-17mpg around town

Take a look at this map. (posted from gasbuddy.com) The highest prices are in the most populated areas, which I find strange. You would think that the greater the volume of gas is sold, the less overhead and better pricing. Maybe tax accounts for the difference in price. That means these major cities are making loads of tax revenue, even though it's more expensive to build infrastructure in smaller rural towns on a per capita basis. What's the deal with that?
TB there is a 15 cent difference from one side of Roch to the other.That would be 15 miles.The Indian reservation which is where I get my smokes is a 20 cent difference and is 40 miles away one way.There a judge just ruled against them telling them they have to start charging taxes for the smokes and no one knows if that includes gas taxes.Talk about us even now being Indian givers and treaties.The public policies laws is politician speak for we taking away more of your rights and interfering in your personal life.Mere fact of the matter is the smoke tax justification is to pay for cancer people's health care and that just ant happening.Ripping off the public yet once again.
I quite agree.The price of gas goes up and more taxes are tacked on.Why the hell we are not breathing down the necks of our governments to put a ceiling on those taxes I don't know.In fact a formula of rolling back some of the taxes when gas reaches a certain level.Now that would be apart of the solution and not contributing to the problem.But what we have unabated is like the fox watching the chicken coup.Do need to get rid of some of those foxes so to speak.

right now in my area there is a .40 to .43 cent difference per gallon of regular gas from the beltway area to just outside of it and under 20 miles distance.

We have purple marked gas here, for boats and farm machines etc...
Its a mid grade 91 octane (i think) for a few cents less than normal unmarked regular 87 oct gas.

Timeless you must drive like an animal. I get that mileage towing a 24 foot 4500lbs travel trailer. A vacuum leak will cause a drop in mileage but that is horrific. Unless you have 36 inch tires and 5:10 gears.
