You could hardly call it MIG if it isn't gas shielded... It would just be a wire feed...1Gary wrote:That is the brand name of my Plasma cutter.I don't think that mig welder is gas shielded. :-k

Don't forget it's 208/230V single phase. You'll probably need to add another breaker into your box for it and a dedicated plug outlet. Not hard to do but some folks don't like messing with electricity.

My stepson is a journeyman electrician, we already discussed that but I have to wait till the ground thaws to dig the ditch to run the wiring.

Hey Mark,
If your running a service to your shop,be sure to run one that is big enough to run your whole shop.I would want to try to run atleast 100amps.The welder likely will run off a 220 30 amps.Maybe Dean will chime in to add his opinion. He is a electrician.I am thinking you would want a service for expansion for stuff like a 2 stage 220 compressor. :-k

Re: 3 in 1 welder. I may buy one
A quick and dirty way to go if you're eager to get welding and have a 220V window AC in your home.....
Go get a very heavy gauge extension cord, preferably less than 25 ft and put a plug on the end that matches that outlet. Typically that circuit will be between 20 and 30 amps. That should power a small welder like this with no problems.

In my old shop I flew a aluminum 220 cable and dug a trench for a gas line.
I do stick pretty close to what is code for safety sake. Each segment having appropriate size wire and breakers.
