Fuel Guage acting funny

Post by marco10 »

I have a 2004 Astro. Recently the fuel gauge has been dancing around. Up, down, up again. Hard to know how much gas is really in there. It doesn't move alot. I'd say about 3 to 4 "lines" on the guage. One time it will be at half a tank and then next time I turn the van on it would be down to a little more than a quarter. Can this be the fuel sensor on the gas tank? Any suggestions?

That seems to be just one of the peculiar characters of the Astro/Safari vans. It is the sending unit. Not much you can do about it short of dropping the tank and replacing the fuel pump and sender. They're an assembly.
