I am replacing my upper control arms complete with bushings and ball joints. When reattaching the ball joint to the steering knuckle (spindle?) how do I know when the ball joint bolt is all the way in? I've threaded on the castle nut a bit and I can access the cotter pin hole but it seems like I could continue jacking up the lower control arm /knuckle into the ball joint. Also, on an AWD how on Earth do you torque that nut? The drive axle (CV joint?) is right there.
As an aside, how do you torque the front upper control arm nut (driver side)? Only access is with box wrench. Should I lower the van down first?
Thank you!
