I just got the van home. Sweet! And she even gave me a full tank of gas.

Its excellent. She didn't, however, get rid of the FOR SALE markings all over the glass. I'm headed to the quarter wash now (8:30pm in the drizzling snow) to wash it. It'll spend the night on the back patio so I can see it first thing in the morning.

Photo!!! Photo with the For Sale and Photo of you washing it off - into the album book it goes! Seriously! Be die-hard! hah ha. The day I bought my Safari I meant to take photos but luck be had it DIED on the way to the insurance company (no insurance on the road = bad bad) but I did not let it phase me - bought her and fixed her up in a park lot outside a golf shop two nights in a row! Wish I had photos :(

It's an Astro van alright.

I came home from washing it and Fiancee had pulled her dirty Murano out so I could put the clean new Astro in the garage. Sweet!

These are all the photos I could get tonite. Fiancee said they don't at all do the van justice, it looks so much better in the real world. Will have to sneak home at lunch tomorrow for a photo session, then post 'em later.

Took some night photos down at the harbor, but they were too fuzzy.

Gotta enjoy the garage time before the lift kit goes on.

Thanks again to everyone for their help to this point. Phase I; The Acquisition, is complete. Now on to Phase II; Operation Off-Road.

Speaking of icey conditions, as a kid growing up in Michigan, we used to get ahold of whatever cars we could find and race them on the frozen ponds back in the woods. My last Pond Racer was a $15 '72 Duster that only drove in reverse and had no exhaust. We cut a hole in the hood and welded a straight pipe right off the manifiold. Ripped all the rear view mirrors out of the junkers (as opposed to my Duster which, of course, was NOT a junker!) and glued em across the windshield at optimum spots, Ford truck mirrors on the sides. Now I can sign my name backing up my RV trailer. And to think todays kids play video games all day. (you know what kind of a Pond Racer you can build for the price of an XBOX?!!) Hmmph.

More pics to follow. Good eye, yes, thats a Kona. There's actually 6 Kona's, 1 Felt, 1 Trek, 1 Miata. Thats the front garage. The back garage (12x25) is filled with 13 kayaks. Now I want to remodel the back garage to get the lifted Astro in with a kayak on top. Oh, brother...when will it stop!

My main rides right now is a DMR Transition and a Standard 250-S OX for stunt work. I occasionally use a Redline Monocog 29er to commute to work 18 miles there / 24 mile back. Have about 6 other bikes that don't get used as often.

The Transition bikes are sweet. Transition and Kona are both based right up the street from me. ALL those guys can ride, as you can imagine. I'll bet you're diggin that 29er. Lots of single speeders around here (but I'm not man enough to be one of them!) Kona boys tell me they are making the Dawg a 29er for '09 (a 5" full suspension). I'll replace my '05 Dawg with that one. (you did see the local bike video in my intial post, yeah?)

Overland says the lift kit is a couple weeks out atleast. Opting for the Rancho 9000 adjustable ride shocks. Don't know why, but I've never really liked directional wheels, will have to replace the stockers with another Chevy wheel of some sort. I'm really happy with the van. Heres another picture it.

While I do like the Transition Bike Company the lack of V-Brake mounts in the Trail-or-Park makes it a no-go for a grinding and rail sliding rider like me.

My bike is the DMR Transition, made in the UK.


My 29er is cool, it's my distance bike. So far my best one day total on it is 101 miles. I've been attempting a 135 loop of local trails around the NW Chicago burbs, but since I don't train I've failed twice. I will get it though, just waiting for the next unplanned Saturday above freezing.

Had to get rid of my motorcycles before I ended up on Youtube in the "Stupid Human Tricks: Motorcycle Edition" section.

Now that I'm older and wiser, I just collect my best Xrays from downhill mountain biking.

Actually, my new deal with SELF ( thats Me, in this case) is that I won't buy any more toys unless it contributes to my Fight2bFit. Like the Ultimate Shuttle Rig Astro van! And a Rod Hockey table!
