Oil cooler lines

Post by astrozam »

Well, looks like I'll get to break-in a forum after all :)

My question is this, Does anyone know what size the oil cooler lines are
where they attach at the spigot ( part the oil filter attaches to ) or is this called a manifold??, anyways, I need this and what size connection at the rad, or are they the same.My hope is to get the size/s and then get two lines made up at Princess Auto, then take to work and change them out.

TIA, Keith.

No idea Keith, but I hope someone knows, because that would be a great way to put new ones in. Mine look really good right now, but from what I have read so far, they will eventually need to be replaced. When you find out the sizes, keep us up to date on how things turned out.

Keith, I thought Dean had done/made up some hoses for his cooler previously.
Just a thought.

Couldn't you just slide under there with your set of open end wrenches and use them to check the diameter of the metal lines? Tube size is outside diameter, so the wrench slipped over the line will tell you what size it is.

Search this board or the old one for Dorman, they make the oil cooler lines for like $50 they are the factory lines with the rubber spacers and the connectors etc.

While thats a handy little way of check the dia, what I really needed to know was about the threads, imperial, metric, fine, course that kinda thing, but I do
appreciate the suggestion. I think I'll add that to our tips/tricks thread

Thanks for the suggestion for Dorman Scott, I was pretty sure there wouldn't be anything here ( Yet :) ) so I checked out A.S and then did a Google and checked out the RockAuto site, upper and lower lines $26 US a piece but by the time it got shipped up here and went through customs ( brokerage fees )
its not worth it, I know I can get them made cheaper and quicker locally. However, that site is really good for looking up parts, I think you've given me an idea :-k thanks.

Actually I thought you were going to have new hoses put on to your original tubing. I can go into my own NAPA store and have them do that kind of stuff while I watch. All it takes is some hot oil hose and crimp-on hose fittings.

Who knows? You might save yourself some money.
