Pedal adjustments?
Pedal adjustments?
Howdy. 2014 Express 1500 5.3
Very annoyed that my little mazda 3 hatchback has more leg room than my van. Is there any way to adjust the pedals to be further away from me? I'm 6'2'' and I get tired after driving for a while because of the amount I have to lift my legs to reach the brake pedal. Yes my seat is all the way back. I did a bit of googling and I think the express does not have adjustable pedals but does someone have a workaround? Or how about a way to move the seats further back than stock? Thank you.

Re: Pedal adjustments?
I moved the seat back in many vans about 2" as I am also tall.
I used four 1"x 1/4" bar stock cut to 3" lengths installed between the seat and pedestal. I drilled 2 holes in the bar stock, one tapped for short bolts the other a through hole for the stock bolts. 4 stock bolts up from the bar (through holes drilled) into captured nuts in the seat and 4 up from the pedestal into the holes into tapped holes in the 1/4" bar. (I used 1/4 x 28, don't remember the length)
I'll try to find pictures.

Re: Pedal adjustments?
I know of at least one other person that changed the location of their Brake Pedal.
Seems as long as it does NOT interfere w/ Travel Dist., the pedal could be moved, cut, welded or rebolted, etc.
The one I saw had been cut, double bolted / locknutted (sp?) & repositioned for more room from the Gas Pedal.
The dude has Huge feet. I do too, 13W, but it never bothered me.

Re: Pedal adjustments?
Yes bambo, very similar but between the seat and pedestal so it is not seen on the carpet.

This is a 1st Gen Astro chassis/interior, though 1995, 2nd Gen had more room.sixsix wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2024 7:51 am I know of at least one other person that changed the location of their Brake Pedal.

I wear a 15 boot, and I HAD TO modify the brake pedal, else I couldn't safely drive the van.
Note that the corner of the pedal sits on the stub of the lever.
Pressure is still applied straight down with no twisting.
Now I can rock on my heel.
Aircraft-grade hardware. After 10K+ miles, it hasn't loosened or budged a bit.

Re: Pedal adjustments?
Nice work.
the doghouse next to the foot is one thing I hate about vans. It's no better on my Savana.
My feet aren't as big as yours, but when I wear boots the edge of the sole will still sometimes catch the brake.
Is that a diamond-plate floor mat?

Re: Pedal adjustments?
On my first long drive, on roads I didn't know, I found myself needing to concentrate far too much on twisting my foot just so. I did NOT enjoy the ride, and was bummed out. I've never driven an Express/Savana, but I sure can relate to the pedal position (dis)comfort issue.
There's one thing...if I lay chrome tools on it, like little sockets, I can't always see them right away.
Never mind dropping a shiny dime...you have to find THAT by feel
No longer available, so I'm guessing I can forget about the Lifetime Warranty. However, I bought it in early 2020, and there's not even any heel-wear. It's a single-piece and a decent fit, and I really like it.Intro-Tech Diamond Plate Floor Mats begin with a heavy-duty vinyl base with rubber nibs to keep the mat in place. Over that sits a layer of bright chrome foil, which gives the mats their shine. The mat is finished off with a clear vinyl top coating that resists scratching. The end result looks just like real aluminum diamond plate but is flexible, rust resistant, and safe on your carpets.
Intro-Tech custom-sizes every Diamond Plate Floor Mat for a perfect fit in your vehicle, whether it's a car, SUV, or truck. Plus, the tread design and vinyl coating provide sure grip on your shoes so your feet won't slip on the mat. Backed with a Lifetime Warranty.
